1.    How would you search for an exact word or phrase?

To get more of an accurate result what you want to do is enclose the phrase or exact work in quotation marks.


2.    How would you search for something on a specific site?

“Simply add "site:time.com" (or "site:nbc.com" or whichever site you want to search) after your search term, and you'll get all the instances of that term on that particular site. Results from the rest of the web will be filtered out.” (Aamoth, 2014)


3.    How would you correctly search for a definition?

All you need to do for this is to put “define” in front of any word to see it’s definition.



4.    How would you search for a specific product available within a specific price range?

First, type the same of a product in google and after that out a “$” sign then the lowest of the price range. Then, press space and put another “$” sign with the highest number in the price range. For example, (flat iron $10 $120).



5.    How would you search for a specific filetype?

To do this type in the google search box “filetype:” followed by the type file you would like to search and it’s classifying name. For example, if you were looking an excel spreadsheet diet plan, to do this you would simply put in the search box: filetype:xls dietplan.  



6.    How would you include or ignore words in your search?

Put the minus sign “-“ in front of the word you would like to exclude.



7.    How would you find sites/pages similar to an existing one?

In this case, all you have to do is type “related: and the site/page you want it to be similar too”. For example, if you were looking for a website similar to CNN then you would type “related:cnn.com” in the search box.


8.    How would you confirm the exact form of a quote even if you were missing some of the words?

In the search box type in the parts of the quote your remember and put asterisk*”, in place of the missing words.




9.    How would search for pages containing two connected words?

Add a dash “-“ in between the two connected words to search for pages containing two connected words.



10. How would you search for social media content containing a specific tag?

To do this you would simply put the symbol before the specific tag. For example, you would add a “#”, or a “@”, before the precise tag.
